I’m originally from Adelaide in South Australia – a little city with a
small town vibe.
I was a drummer from birth thanks to my father’s genes. He's been a
drummer in rock’n roll bands since I can remember. My first guitar came
to me at age fifteen. It was a cheap electric Hondo that went out of
tune all the time, but it came with a home made amp from a guy in my
Dad’s band. It had a great natural warm fuzz when I cranked it.
I spent many weekends and nights jamming on the old "Hondo-matic" to
stuff I liked at the time: Nirvana, Soundgarden, Red Hot Chilly
Peppers, Hendrix, The Breeders, The Cure, The Beatles and Bob Marley
and the Wailers to name but a few.
I moved to London after Uni where I bought a cheap acoustic guitar and
began writing songs.
I liked some of the stuff I was jamming on, so I borrowed my housemate’s
dictaphone and began recording songs. I opened up Pandora’s box with
that cheap ass acoustic guitar and dictaphone.
I learned how good it felt to express my-self through music: my fears,
joys, and frustrations, stories of my experiences inside and out. This
was a turning point for me musically and things were never going to be
the same.
